Principals Letter

Dear Families

Happy New Year! The students and staff are settling into a nice routine after the busy months of November and December. This month we will give the Winter Benchmark assessments in reading, writing and math to all of our students. These assessments are quick and they help us ensure that all of our students are making progress, determine which students are in need of extra assistance, and also provide enrichment for those above grade level.

Our 2nd quarter is quickly coming to an end (January 26th). There are many ways parents can help their child/ren be successful in school. Just by doing the following will help your child:

Ø Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep

Ø Provide a quiet place to study and/or read.

Ø Sit and listen to your child read.

Ø Praise your child

Ø Limit video/T.V. usage

It is always our goal to provide families information on ways to help their child be successful in school. Remember there are some great web sites listed on our school web page:  Just click on academics and scroll down. Feel free to contact your child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress and ways to help them succeed.

Beginning January 8th, we will have an after school club for students who are in need of more time and support to master basic skills in reading, math, and writing. The sessions will run from 2:30 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Parents will be receiving a permission form this week.

This month our character focus is: Fairness! As a school family, we have learned the following character traits: Responsibility, respect, citizenship, caring & empathy. Ask students about these traits as we are seeing them demonstrate their skills regularly.

Please check our school website and use our monthly Newsletter to keep you up-dated on the happenings at Idaho Hill.
